Clarinet

Our Clarinet lessons cater to both children and adults. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or at any level of proficiency, all ages are welcome. Sweet Symphony Students pursuing music exams generally follow the Trinity exam syllabus and conveniently take their exams in our Studio.

If exams don’t align with your goals, no worries – learning for pure enjoyment is equally encouraged. We respect each Student’s preference and don’t impose exam pressure on anyone.

The lessons are well structured and focus in on any areas for improvement whilst also expanding her musical abilities. All the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the student portal is an excellent addition allowing me to change and keep track of lessons.”

FAQ

Do I need my own Clarinet?

Students will need their own clarinet to use in lessons and for practice at home. We can recommend some local retailers who are very reasonably-priced and also offer instrument-rental schemes. Unfortunately for hygiene purposes we’re unable to lend out Studio woodwind instruments.

I’m an adult and I’ve never played before…am I too old to start learning?

Absolutely not – you’re never too old! Although it may be true that children tend to pick up things a little easier (they’re used to learning new things every day), as long as you’re keen to learn and are committed to practise regularly, you’ll make great progress!

What age do you start teaching at?

For clarinet students, we can offer lessons from age 6 using the fantastic Nuvo Clarineo (read about the Nuvo instruments in our blog here). If you’d prefer not to use a Clarineo and instead go straight for the regular Bb clarinet, we’d recommend starting at around age 8.
