Meet the Teacher – Piano/Woodwind – Matthew

Matthew Forster is a Piano and Woodwind Teacher at Sweet Symphony School of Music

Here’s the next edition of our Meet The Teacher blog posts, where we shout about our amazing Teachers. At Sweet Symphony only the best will suffice, so we’re confident that we have the perfect Teacher waiting to welcome you for your first lesson. The next Teacher in the spotlight is our Piano & Woodwind Teacher Matthew Forster.

Matthew joined us over a year ago when we were recruiting another Piano Teacher. Quite conveniently, Matthew also teaches Clarinet, Flute & Saxophone, so he’s been very much in demand from Day 1! His teaching hours have gradually increased, from starting off just 2 nights a week to now working over 30 hours a week at the Studio, Monday-Saturday.

A bit of background…

Matthew has over 10 years’ experience as a Teacher. He studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire where he achieved a Bachelors in Music (with First Class Hons., no less!) and then continued with Post-Grad studies in Performance and Pedagogy.

Matthew is a great Jazz lover, and says “I love playing Jazz music – the music of Oscar Peterson, and Thelonious Monk spring to mind – but I enjoy playing all sorts of styles!”

Outside of music, Matthew fancies himself as a bit of a chef: “I think a good life should centre around great music and great food. If I’m not playing an instrument or teaching people to do the same, you’ll find me in the kitchen!”

Would you like lessons with Matthew?

Matthew is a fantastic member of our Sweet Symphony teaching team. Highly-motivated, enthusiastic and friendly – he’s a great choice for Students of all ages!

Matthew’s schedule is always pretty full, but the odd space does open up now and again if Students have to switch times.
